THIS IS WHY I BUY A SUBSCRIPTION EACH YEAR. It’s essentially a roll of the dice – I gamble that one of the 6 shows will knock it out of the park. And this one did, on all levels.
Incredible script – I cared about the characters from the first moments, and its wonderful complexity and layers were conveyed in intelligently and with grace and humor. Equivocation really captured me, but this one will stay with me for a long, long time.
The set – my kind of set. Spare, flexible, creative. PLEASE give me more of this kind of staging in the future. (I do so despair when the curtain opens to reveal thousands of dollars on the stage – but nary an actor.)
The acting – superb. Briliantly cast, this ensemble was clean, clear and breathtaking. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that.
I was MOVED. I cared about these characters, and they resonated with me and the entire audience. It was a rich and difficult journey to participate in, but so very worthwhile.
So much food for thought – I’ll be chewing on it for days.
THIS IS WHAT THEATRE IS FOR. Thank you!!!!!!!

Great performances and casting, wonderful story and touching dialogue. Very authentic.
Two criticisms:
1. job as priest was never integrated into the story, a strange paste-on, wasn’t sure if it was for real or symbolic. Needed more clear definition and transition..
2. job as screen writer also was not integrated into the story.
Obvious weak spots in an otherwise stunning scripts

One of the best plays ever seen at the Rep and we’ve been coming for years. I saw it the night before the anniversary of my Mother’s death which was on my Father’s Birthday (he passed away a few years ago) . I laughed, I cried, I was moved beyond words and this cast was superb. I cannot say enough about this production.
